Rubber lining is capable of protecting metal or other substrates from medium flushing and chemical corrosion. Not only are they resistant to corrosion of acid, base, mineral salt, desulfidation glypsum slurry, but also they show excellent comprehensive performance, such as elasticity, abrasion resistance, impact resistance, flexibility, shock absorption performance and adhesion with metal or other bases.
Broadly speaking, rubber lining refers to “rubber-lined” technology that is to line rubber material on the metal surface to form a continuous and closed isolation layer for protecting the base from erosion and abrasion of mediums, thus avoiding physical damages. Along with the development of synthetic technique, a variety of synthetic rubbers ( chloroprene, butyl, etc.) are gradually used as rubber lining, which promote substantive progress in acid, alkali and oil resistance, heat resistance, impact resistance, high elasticity and other performance.
In recent two decades, in order to satisfy anti-corrosion requirement of large-scale equipment, rubber lining technology is improved gradually. In addition to features of reliable anti-corrosion performance and simple and convenient construction, rubber lined pipes are also able to withstand natural pressure, natural vulcanization and prevulcanization under harsh working conditions so that they are widely promoted and widely.
Advantages of Rubber lined pipes
1 Excellent structure
The interior wall of pipes and rubber layer are formed as a whole by high-performance bonding agent, thus overcoming many shortcomings, for example steel pipes can withstand pressure but are not abrasion resistant while plastics and rubber are abrasion resistant but can’t withstand pressure, poor impact resistance of glass fiber reinforced plastics. Moreover, rubber lined pipes have advantages of steel pipes and abrasion-resistant rubber and is excellent in comprehensive cost performance.
2 High strength/high impact-resistance
Rubber elastomer has many advantages, such as low density, light weight, better shock absorption properties and excellent mechanical impact resistance performance, high strength, better rigidity, without creepage, impact resistance, anti-vibration, water hammer-resistant, easy to transport, install and maintain.
3 Wide temperature application scope
Rubber lined pipes can be used for a long time within the range of 120℃ and in this case, the rubber lined layer will not be disconnected from the steel base plane due to temperature variation.
